The factory Eaton TVS supercharger found on the C7 Corvette Z06 helps create its astonishing 650 horsepower and utilizes an engine mounted intercooler with a heat exchanger located at the front of the car within the cooling system’s airflow path.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you recall basic science classes, the temperature of air increases as it is compressed. The supercharger’s compressed air entering the engine can be cooled via an intercooler, which in turn allows the cooler air to make more horsepower. The C7 Corvette’s intercooler is a liquid to air design, using its own coolant reservoir and pump system. The intercooler’s fluid is pumped through the heat exchanger at the front of the vehicle for cooling purposes and then is returned to the supercharger. This allows the intercooler to reduce the incoming air temperature to the engine. However, high boost application, or continued high rpm use can saturate the system, preventing the heat exchanger from effectively cooling the fluid to a sufficient level.
